Distributary (pay-as-you go) and capitalisation (funding) elements in the new Greek social security system. Transportability of benefits throughout Europe
Professor em. Dr. Konstantinos Kremalis is the national representative for Greece of the European Network of legal experts MoveS in the field of free movement of workers within EU and coordination of the social security systems under the Regulation (EC) 883/2004. The network is funded by the European Commission.
In the framework of this cooperation, the EU is provided on a regular basis with up-to-date information related to the developments on the aforementioned matters while at the same time legal issues that arise regarding the status of mobile workers are noted through thematic legal reports and ad hoc analytical support.
The organisation of National Seminars of an informative nature on issues of common (European and national) interest is among the responsibilities of the network of legal experts. Mr. Kremalis, assisted by partners of Kremalis-Law Firm, is organising on 25.11.2021 a webinar on:
Transportability of benefits throughout Europe”
In particular, the subject of the Seminar will be the present, the future and the European prospects of Supplementary Insurance in Greece based on a full or partially capitalized contribution system. The aim of the Seminar is the adequate protection of posted workers and the constructive cooperation between Member States on transnational social security issues.
The Seminar seeks to identify and clarify areas of supplementary and main social security, that make it difficult to apply the rules, in the context of the free movement of workers within the EU and the coordination of social security systems between Member States, such as seamless transfer of employees’ pension rights by seeking practices that will facilitate the transition to modern standards.
