{"id":6719,"date":"2025-07-10T11:33:47","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T08:33:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kremalis.com\/?p=6719"},"modified":"2025-07-10T11:33:47","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T08:33:47","slug":"expansion-of-the-digital-work-card-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kremalis.com\/el\/expansion-of-the-digital-work-card-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Expansion of the Digital Work Card Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following a notable increase in declared overtime hours in April 2025 &#8211; largely attributed to the implementation of the Digital Work Card system, based on the assumptions of the respective authorities &#8211; the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has announced the extension of the pilot program to additional sectors, effective Thursday, 26 June 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The new pilot phase encompasses enterprises operating in the following sectors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wholesale trade<\/li>\n<li>Energy<\/li>\n<li>Financial services<\/li>\n<li>Administrative and support services within the tourism industry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The mandatory application of the Digital Work Card in these sectors will commence on\u00a03 November 2025. From this date, employers will be required to ensure the\u00a0real-time recording of working hours and overtime\u00a0for all employees.<\/p>\n<p>With the inclusion of these sectors, the Digital Work Card system will cover an\u00a0additional approx. 350,000 employees, increasing the total number of employees within its scope to approximately\u00a01.85 million.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative is aimed at enhancing transparency in labour practices, strengthening employee protective regulations, and promoting fair competition among businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Employer Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>All affected employers are strongly advised to initiate the necessary technical and procedural preparations without delay.
